"TAYF"
The newsletter of the Friends of Soqotra is called "Tayf", the Soqotri word for "Aloe". In 2005 this replaced the name "Dioscorida", the ancient Greek name for Soqotra, from the Sanskrit, "Dvipa Sukhadhara". The newsletter is published annually in English and in Arabic and is available electronically for anyone who is interested in the Soqotra Archipelago. Hard copies of the Arabic version are distributed free on Soqotra. The aim of the newsletter is to keep the islanders informed about ongoing scientific research and FOS projects on their islands.
